Through God's Lens
Anyone can have a camera, but can you have vision...

Lionnessa Lens is not about just taking pictures with a camera, but about capturing the collaborative vision that God has given us. Everyone that works with Lionnessa Lens are apart of a movement, not just a moment inside of a picture. You are apart of the movement that puts God's Creative Power at the forefront and not the backend. The movement that gives God the pen to our next chapters and not our footnotes. At Lionnessa Lens, we focus on God so that our lens will be clearer. If you know anything about photography, you know that the entire camera is based off of different measurements of light and the sensibility of light. Since cameras rely on the sun to function, we rely on the Son to function. Christ is The Light that brightens and enhances our vision unto His Will because "When God is in focus, the lens will be also."

Meet the Woman Behind the Camera
Janessa Tyler
Janessa combines faith and culture through photography with Lionnessa Lens. Lionnessa Lens is a photography business that Janessa has been inspired to create in 2022 that believes that “When God is in focus, the lens will be also.” Since God is the Creator, all of our creativity comes from Him. Janessa noticed that many art spaces are very perverted along with an "anything goes" mentality in regards to art. She also noticed that the Christian art space is small and is often viewed at as "corny". Therefore, Janessa wanted to use her gift of photography to show others that art doesn't have to be perverted or corny, but it can have a purpose that glorifies God while having AMAZING photos. With that being said, Janessa has gravitated towards conceptual art, where the meaning behind the art is more important than the art itself.
Being a Christian creative, Janessa creates complex scenarios combining the physical world and the spiritual world. Seeing and capturing the beauty of God's creation helps Janessa to be able to see the photographic vision that only God can possess. She also enjoys capturing elements of black culture such as black aesthetics, beauty, childhood, sisterhood, segregation, and more in order to influence conversations of unspoken aspects of blackness in America. She is currently a Junior at Columbia College Chicago (CCC), where she is getting her Bachelor's in Photography with a minor in Entrepreneurship. Her work has been featured in Manifest Festival of May 2022 at CCC and the For Women by Women Gallery of May - September 2023 at CCC.
